Albin Thomas — the person behind the résumé

Originally from India. Both social and silent depending on the room. He pictures people's stories as they tell them, enjoys a long conversation about where the world is headed, thinks of life as one long film — and tries to live it fully.

Travel

Nine countries of stories so far: India, France, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, England, Norway, Canada and the USA — with a lot of pins still to place.

Music

Festival drops, soulful strings and Malayalam classics, all on rotation — Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Mark Eliyahu, P. Jayachandran, and Shaan Wynn.

Markets

Real estate, stocks, crypto, futures, options. "I know a hundred ways to lose money in the market — and I enjoy every one."

His field notes on what's next in AI: co-packaged optics and silicon photonics, the indium phosphide laser shortage, and NVIDIA's 800 V DC power architecture for AI factories.

The Lab — DIY AI

He builds AI at home, on hardware on his desk: an NVIDIA DGX Spark, a Reachy Mini desktop robot he assembled himself from a kit, and an NVIDIA Jetson Thor. Current builds include SafeSight, a depth-camera safety system, and a local vision model that reads engineering drawings.

Mead

He brews mead, one of the oldest drinks people have ever made, a gallon at a time on the kitchen counter: sanitise everything, water and honey into the jug, a proper shake, a hydrometer reading, the airlock on — and then the hardest ingredient, patience.
